First-year team St. Louis CITY runs roughshod over previously unbeaten FC Cincinnati, 5-1, before a sellout crowd at CITYPARK. The game starts almost 2.5 hours late because of thunderstorms, but CITY starts early with a Jared Stroud goal in the third minute. Eduard Löwen makes it 2-0 in the 39th minute, and Kyle Hiebert applies the hammer with a goal on a header two minutes into first-half added time. Nicholas Gioacchini makes it 4–0 at the end of a CITY counterattack in the 52nd minute. CITY’s lead grows to 5-0 on a Cincinnati own goal in the 57th minute. The 5-1 final score spoils the hometown return of FC Cincinnati head coach and St. Louis native Pat Noonan. The victory runs CITY’s MLS record to 6-2 and ends a two-game losing streak.
